In the present day, the vast majority of airports continue to live in an environment where information is scarce and unreliable. Those airports and airlines that have sought to boost their performance in this area – for example, by redesigning processes and pursuing well-defined improvement targets – have generally done so in isolation from the rest of the airport community. True, some players have invited other stakeholders to “support” their optimization efforts, but even these limited cases of collaboration are few and far between.
A more collaborative information environment among airport managers, airlines and ground handlers stands to benefit everyone involved but, above all, it stands to benefit the passenger.
